The Harold Colbert Jones Memorial Community Center is unique for
its presence in the South Suburban Cook County community of Chicago
Heights. Located on the “east side,” it is outstanding
in its 85 years of service to a broad and diverse population. The
Center is not only committed to its neighborhood, it is committed
to its original intention to improve the physical and economic
well-being and spirit of all.
While located in Chicago Heights, the service area of Jones Center
has few defined boundaries and responds to the needs of anyone
who requests them. True to its origins in the Presbyterian Church,
the Center has many activities and programs for all age groups
and continues to express high principles and provide practical
services to strengthen family ties, to emphasize the worth of all
persons and to answer a community need.
The Jones Center Board, staff, volunteers, and community members
are building a beautiful play lot across
the street from the facility. This includes a fenced in playground
for the younger children with colorful slides and swings, a
baseball field, multi-purpose sports field, family picnic area,
and a ¼ mile
fitness path for people of all ages.
